Garmin forever!

My mom got this one as a gift. Comparing to my Garmin, TomTom is not user friendly, hard to navigate with, so we went to the store and exchanged it for Garmin 255w and are very happy with it.,

Nice and affordable but turns itself on when it shoudn't

PROS: I got mine for $50 so can't complain. I like it for it's portable size and GPS nav works as expected. It's definitely worth the money. CONS: I have two annoyances: 1) When you are in the countryside, you have to zoom in to see the smaller roads - even if there are no other roads around. This filtering is useful in cities when you got a lot of roads and makes sense to focus on bigger ones, but in countryside when you have few roads this is counterproductive. 2) The unit turns itself ON by itself. I charge it, turn it off to store. A few days later the unit comes on by itself and drains the battery down. This is a design flaw and i've seen many user complaints about this.

Gets the job done

My second Tom Tom. For me, no need to get all the other bells and whistles. The 130S is a basic model and is simple to use. The new mount system is OK, but it did take me a little practice to get it down (windshield mount). Overall I would highly recommend this unit. Shop around and you should be able to purchase for $80.00 or less.

I'm a novice at electronics, and there are too many processes to go thru to get to what you want (to get to your destination) - once you figure out all of the buttons to push - it's a beautiful thing...

Couldn't Navigate its Way Out of a Wet Paper Bag with a Knife

Generates routes that are dozens or even hundreds of miles out of the way. Seems to think that no matter where I'm going, I should go by way of Dallas. Miscalculates driving times by hours. Times appear to be based upon an average speed of 42mph - on the Interstate. Turns itself on & off at random. Frequently locks up completely. Online updates make things worse, not better. Regularly falls off the windshield, no matter how carefully installed. Buy a toaster instead - It will navigate just as well, and you'll at least have some toast.
